St Paul Trail hiking guide: route map, stages & where to stay
The Saint Paul Trail is one of Türkiye’s most impressive long-distance hiking routes, stretching for around 500 km from Perge near Antalya to Yalvaç in Isparta Province, close to Lake Eğirdir. Opened in 2008 by Kate Clow and the Culture Routes Society, the trail follows the presumed route taken by the Apostle Paul during his first missionary journey through Asia Minor.
Best time to hike the St Paul Trail →
Unlike the more popular Lycian Way, the Saint Paul Trail feels wilder, quieter, and more rural. It passes through ancient Roman roads, forest tracks, mountain paths, traditional villages, canyons, waterfalls, and highland landscapes. The route begins near sea level and climbs up to around 2,200 meters, with optional mountain sections reaching approximately 2,800 meters.
The trail is rich in both history and nature. Key highlights include the ancient city of Perge, Köprülü Canyon National Park, Uçansu Falls, the Roman site of Adada Ancient City, and the final destination of Yalvaç, known historically as Pisidian Antioch, an important early Christian site.
The full route usually takes around 27 days to complete. There is also a second branch starting from Beşkonak, near the entrance of Köprülü Canyon National Park, which joins the main route at Adada (we cover the main branch here which is around 300 km) . Accommodation can often be found in village houses or small pensions, but some remote sections require camping.
The best seasons for trekking the Saint Paul Trail are spring and autumn, while July and August can be very hot, especially in the lower sections. Overall, the trail is ideal for hikers, pilgrims, history lovers, and travellers looking for a more remote and authentic walking experience in Türkiye.

Where to stay on the St Paul Trail
Pensions, village guesthouses, campsites and places to eat, grouped by route section from Antalya to Yalvaç. Listings were checked online in September 2026. Places marked "listed by the trail association" are on the official trail list but could not be confirmed online. Small village businesses open and close with the season, so call or message before you rely on one.
