On the Ausangate Circuit you camp: between Upis and Pacchanta there are only campsites at 4,400-4,700 m, most with no more than a stream and sometimes a toilet or stone shelter, run by local herding families who charge a small fee in cash. Tinki and Pacchanta have a few basic hostals and hot springs. Carry a 4-season tent, a sleeping bag rated to -15 °C and cash in soles; horses and an arriero can be hired in Tinki or through a Cusco agency. Community lodges exist only on the guided lodge-to-lodge variant.
