Popular campsite at Laguna Ausangatecocha (about 4,650 m), on the trail 4.5 km into stage 3, between Apacheta and Palomani passes, with a concrete shelter, toilets and piped water. A community toll (reported S/15-20 in 2024) is collected here; hikers report satellite wi-fi in peak season.
Grassy valley floor at about 4,500 m by the herders' houses of Huchuy Finaya (Uchuy Phinaya), where most groups camp after Palomani pass; about 100 m from the trail. No facilities; ask the families before pitching and expect a small fee.
Community lodge at 4,815 m below the south face of Ausangate, about 0.5 km off the trail after Palomani pass, with beds, down duvets and private bathrooms with hot water. It is part of the lodge-to-lodge trek and is sold only as part of a guided package, not to walk-in hikers.

Most have no facilities beyond a stream and sometimes a toilet or stone shelter; ask the family before you pitch, pay the small fee in cash, and carry out all your rubbish.
