Malerweg emergency & health guide: hospitals, mountain rescue and 112

The nearest hospital with a 24/7 emergency department for each of the 8 stages, rescue numbers for Germany, the national park rules and the 2026 diversions, and clinics, pharmacies, ATMs and bus stops along the trail.

In an emergency call 112. It is free from any phone and sends the ambulance, the fire brigade and the volunteer mountain rescue of the Bergwacht Sachsen. Every signpost in the national park has a yellow tag with a four-digit number: give this number, say what happened, how many people are hurt and how, and wait for questions. Near Schmilka and the Großer Winterberg your phone may connect to a Czech network; 112 still works, so say that you are in Germany, in the Sächsische Schweiz.
