Oban

On the Rakiura Track you sleep in two DOC Great Walk huts (24 bunks each) or at three small campsites, and every night must be booked with DOC in advance, all year. Huts have mattresses and a wood burner but no cookers or lights, so carry a stove, fuel and all your food. Book rooms in Oban and the ferry or flight across Foveaux Strait early in summer.
