On the Peaks of the Balkans you sleep in family guesthouses (bujtina), kullas and shepherd huts in the villages and summer settlements (katuns), most with half board: dinner, a bed and breakfast, with a packed lunch for a few euros more. The summer villages (Çerem, Dobërdol, Milishevc, the katuns) open only from about mid-June to September and have few beds, so call a day or two ahead. Pay in cash: lek or euros in Albania, euros in Kosovo and Montenegro. Camping outside organised sites is not allowed in Montenegro.
