Punakaiki
On the Paparoa Track you sleep in DOC Great Walk huts, and all three must be booked online before you start; there are no campsites on the track. The huts have mattresses, heating and gas cooktops, but you carry all your food. Book a bed in Blackball or Punakaiki and the shuttle between the two ends well ahead in summer.
