Mysia Ways emergency & health guide: hospitals, rescue and 112

The nearest hospital with an emergency service for each of the 6 stages of the Trans Mysia, how to call for help, the forest-fire and wetland rules, and pharmacies and shops near the trail.

In an emergency call 112 from any phone, free, also without a SIM card. There is no separate mountain rescue number: 112 sends the ambulance, the gendarmerie (jandarma), which is responsible for the countryside, and AFAD search and rescue. Say that a walker is lost or injured, give the stage (Trans Mysia T1 to T6), the nearest village and your GPS coordinates, then stay where you are and keep your phone on. Operators speak Turkish; speak slowly or ask for English.

Emergency numbers

NumberWhat it is
112The single emergency number in Turkey: ambulance, gendarmerie (rural police), police, fire brigade and AFAD search and rescue. Free from any phone, also without a SIM card. For a lost or injured walker say "kayıp yürüyüşçü" or "yaralı yürüyüşçü", the stage, the nearest village and your GPS position.
+90 224 295 00 00Bursa Uludağ University Hospital, Görükle (switchboard): the nearest full hospital for stages 2 to 6
+90 224 975 00 00Bursa City Hospital, Doğanköy, Nilüfer (switchboard): the main state hospital of Bursa
+90 224 486 62 74Mysia Yolları office in Misi (Nilüfer Municipality), office hours: trail conditions and waymarks, not emergencies

Mobile signal is good in the villages and on the ridges but drops in some forest valleys; if a call fails, climb to higher ground or walk towards the nearest village. Tell your hotel or someone at home your plan for each day, especially if you camp.

Rules to know

The Trans Mysia is marked with red-and-white stripes, but forest and quarry roads create many side tracks and some sections are overgrown: download the official GPX files from mysiayollari.com before you start. Fill water at village fountains (çeşme). Bring Turkish lira in cash for village coffee houses and taxis; there are ATMs in Nilüfer and Görükle.

Pharmacies, cash and supplies

Turkey has a duty-pharmacy system (nöbetçi eczane): in each district one pharmacy stays open at night, on Sundays and on holidays, and the rota is posted on every pharmacy door and online (search "Nilüfer nöbetçi eczane"). On the trail there are pharmacies only in Akçalar; Misi, Gölyazı and the hill villages have none, so carry a first-aid and blister kit and any medicines you need.
