Shuttle buses run from the Machu Picchu entrance down to Aguas Calientes in 25 to 30 minutes, from early morning to late afternoon. In 2026 a return costs about US$24 for foreigners (about US$12 one way); the operator is in dispute, so buy your ticket in Aguas Calientes or through your trek operator.

Checked online in October 2026. Places marked "not confirmed by the operator" are listed on OpenStreetMap, in the regulation or in news reports, but could not be checked on a current official page. The campsites on the Inca Trail are managed by the Ministry of Culture (DDC Cusco) and SERNANP. Most have flush toilets but no showers or shops; your crew brings tents, food and cooking gear and boils your water. Camping anywhere else is forbidden.
