Stage 8 of the MacLehose Trail covers 9.3 km from Lead Mine Pass to Route Twisk, with 619 m of ascent and 542 m of descent. The highest point is 910 m. Allow about 4 hours of walking, plus breaks.

扶輪公園營地
Small AFCD campsite in the Rotary Park barbecue site, about 5 minutes from the Tai Mo Shan Country Park bus stop at the end of stage 8, with flushing toilets, sinks and tap water. No booking; bus 51 runs to Tsuen Wan.
荃錦營地
Medium AFCD campsite by the Twisk management centre at the start of stage 9, with 37 camping platforms (4 people each), mobile toilets and tap water. It is the only AFCD campsite that must be booked in advance on the Enjoy Camping website; new toilets have been under construction since October 2025.
施樂園大帽山青年旅舍
The highest youth hostel in Hong Kong, on Tai Mo Shan Road about 350 m off the trail and 2.5 km before Route Twisk, with dorm beds, private dorms, a camping area and a self-catering kitchen. Book online; check-in 3-8 pm, the gate is closed 11 am-4 pm, and you need YHA membership.
Checked online in October 2026. Places marked "listed, not confirmed" appear on OpenStreetMap or a public listing, but their details could not all be confirmed on their own website. AFCD campsites are free and first come, first served (Twisk must be booked on camping.gov.hk), and many have only seasonal stream water. Hotels are in the towns below the trail: the note for each says which bus to take from the stage end.
