鹹田灣營地
Large free AFCD campsite at Ham Tin beach, on the trail 2 km after Sai Wan, with flushing toilets about 200 m away and tap water; two village stores (On Kee and Hoi Fung) serve meals. It is packed on holiday weekends; in 2026 AFCD said Sai Wan and Ham Tin are likely pilot sites for a booking system.
白普理堂赤徑青年旅舍
Youth hostel by Chek Keng pier, about 250 m off the trail and 3 km before Pak Tam Au, with dorm beds, private dorms, a family room, a camping area and a self-catering kitchen. Book online; check-in 3-8 pm, and you need YHA or Hostelling International membership (can be bought on arrival).
北潭凹營地
Small free AFCD campsite in woodland about 10 minutes off the trail near the end of stage 2 (signposted towards Chek Keng), with barbecue pits, dry toilets and only seasonal stream water; there is a water filling station at Pak Tam Au. Buses 94 and minibus 7 stop on the road.
白沙澳青年旅舍
Youth hostel in a restored Hakka village on Hoi Ha Road, about 3 km north of Pak Tam Au by minibus 7, with dorm beds, private dorms, bell tents, a camping area and a self-catering kitchen. Book online; check-in 3-8 pm, membership needed.
Checked online in October 2026. Places marked "listed, not confirmed" appear on OpenStreetMap or a public listing, but their details could not all be confirmed on their own website. AFCD campsites on the MacLehose Trail have no staff, showers or shops; bring a tent, a stove, food and enough water, and cook only at the barbecue pits.
