Bodrum State Hospital
Bodrum Devlet Hastanesi
- 24/7 emergency
- Stages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Konacık Mahallesi, Başeğmez Caddesi No 3, Konacık, 48400 Bodrum, Muğla
The nearest hospital with a 24-hour emergency department for each of the 6 stages, how to call for help on 112, the rules for walkers in the forests and at the ancient sites of the Bodrum peninsula, and health centres and pharmacies near the trail.
In an emergency call 112 from any phone; it is free and connects you to ambulance, gendarmerie, police and fire. In the countryside the gendarmerie (jandarma) and AFAD organise searches for lost or injured walkers. Say that you are on the Leleg Yolu, which stage you are on, the nearest village and, if you can, your GPS coordinates. Most of the trail has phone signal, but it drops in some valleys: if you cannot get through, climb to a ridge or send someone to the nearest road or village.
| Number | What it is |
|---|---|
| 112 | Single emergency number in Türkiye: ambulance, gendarmerie, police, fire and forest fire, free from any phone. The gendarmerie and AFAD organise searches in the countryside. The old numbers 155, 156, 110 and 177 are routed to 112. |
| +90 252 313 14 20 | Bodrum State Hospital (Bodrum Devlet Hastanesi), Konacık: 24-hour emergency department |
| +90 252 311 44 44 | Acıbadem Bodrum Hospital (private), Ortakent: 24-hour emergency department, paid treatment |
There is no mountain rescue service as in the Alps, but the trail is never far from a road, and an ambulance or gendarmerie team can usually reach a nearby track within an hour. Say "Leleg Yolu", the nearest village and your GPS coordinates. Carry travel insurance that covers private hospitals.
Before you go, download the official route: the South Aegean Development Agency publishes the coordinate list, the elevation profile and the connectors on guneyegeturkiye.com, and Go Türkiye has a page on the Leleg Way. Minibuses (dolmuş) link Bodrum with Konacık, Ortakent, Gündoğan, Yalıkavak, Gümüşlük and Turgutreis; Etrim has no reliable service, so take a taxi to the start.

Pharmacies (eczane) are in every town around the trail: Bodrum, Konacık, Ortakent, Yalıkavak, Gümüşlük and Turgutreis, and there is one at Yalıçiftlik bay. There are none in the hill villages on the route. At night and on Sundays one pharmacy in each area is on duty (nöbetçi eczane): its name and address are posted in the window of every pharmacy. Carry a first-aid kit, blister care, sunscreen and any medicines you need. There are ATMs in all the towns; carry some cash for minibuses, taxis and village shops.
