Stage 4 of the Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route covers 9.7 km from Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp, with 769 m of ascent and 688 m of descent. The highest point is 4,631 m. Allow about 6.5 hours of walking, plus breaks.

Official KINAPA campsite at about 3,960 m in the Barranco Valley below the Barranco Wall, on the trail; ranger post, toilets and a stream. One of the busiest camps on the mountain, where the Lemosho, Machame and Umbwe routes meet. You sleep in tents brought by your licensed operator; the KINAPA camping fee is paid through the operator with your permit.
High campsite at about 4,630 m below the Lava Tower, on the trail halfway between Shira 2 and Barranco. Most groups only stop here for lunch and sleep lower at Barranco to help acclimatisation; very cold at night.
