Where to sleep and eat on this stage

Ayapata

Ayapata campsite

  • Camping

Official campsite at about 3,300 m, 1 to 1.5 hours above Wayllabamba, with flush toilets and washbasins. Used as night 1 on the "Ayapata - Chaquicocha - Wiñay Wayna" plan, which shortens the climb to Dead Woman's Pass on day 2.

Llulluchapampa

Llulluchapampa campsite

  • Camping
  • Not confirmed by the operator — check first

High campsite at about 3,760 m in the open valley below Dead Woman's Pass, with toilets. The regulation lists it for groups starting at Km 88; some Km 82 groups use it too, but only if the Ministry assigns it. Nights here are cold, often below freezing in June to August.

Pacaymayo

Pacaymayo Alto campsite

Paqaymayu Alto

  • Camping

Official night-2 campsite at about 3,600 m, 1.5 to 2 hours down from Dead Woman's Pass (4,215 m), with flush toilets. It was reconditioned during the February 2026 closure. The night is cold and damp, so bring a warm sleeping bag.

Checked online in October 2026. Places marked "not confirmed by the operator" are listed on OpenStreetMap, in the regulation or in news reports, but could not be checked on a current official page. On the Inca Trail you camp only at the official campsite that the Ministry of Culture assigns to your group with your permit. Your operator's crew carries and pitches the tents and cooks, so there is nothing to book here yourself.
