Stage 15 of the Goldsteig covers 12.1 km from Bayerisch Eisenstein to Großer Falkenstein, with 796 m of ascent and 245 m of descent. The highest point is 1,276 m. Allow about 5 hours of walking, plus breaks.

Mountain hut just below the Großer Falkenstein summit (1,315 m), 700 m off the through route: watch for the turn at the junction before the hut. 40 beds in 4-bed rooms; overnight stays May to end of October, booking required; dinner 6-7 pm; no dogs in rooms.
Hotel with restaurant at Lindbergmühle, about 5 km below the Falkenstein; a fallback if the hut is full (Falkensteinbus from Zwiesel serves the area).
Free national park tent site with 4 tent pitches, a simple WC and water at Scheuereck, about 2 km off the trail early on stage N16. Open 1 April to 15 November, maximum 2 nights, no fires; the only legal place to camp in the park near the route.
Checked online in October 2026. Places marked "listed, not confirmed" appear on a public listing (OpenStreetMap, the municipality or the official Goldsteig stage page) but could not be confirmed on their own website. Small villages such as Herzogau, Eck and Philippsreut have only one or two places, many inns close one day a week (Ruhetag), and the Falkenstein and Lusen huts take overnight guests only from May to October with a booking: book ahead, especially from June to September.
