On the Goldsteig you sleep in village inns (Gasthof), pensions, small hotels, youth hostels and a few mountain huts. There are no permits. The Falkenstein and Lusen huts take overnight guests only from May to October and only with a booking, and in 2026 the Waldschmidthaus on the Rachel has no beds, so you descend to a village. Partner hosts often pick walkers up and carry bags. Wild camping needs the landowner's permission and is banned in the national park.
