Picton

Beachcomber Cruises (mailboat, water taxi and pack transfer)

  • Transfer

Picton waterfront operator running scheduled boats to Ship Cove (8 am departure from 1 October to 30 April, otherwise 9 am) and the Great Track & Pack Pass, which includes daily luggage transfers. Open every day except Christmas Day.

Cougar Line (water taxi and pack transfer)

  • Transfer

Scheduled catamarans from the Picton town wharf all year (about 8 am to 6 pm) to Ship Cove and any jetty on the track; they carry your pack between lodges each day. Book seats and pack transfers in advance.

Picton i-SITE visitor centre

  • Other

Official visitor centre on the Picton foreshore, by the boat terminals: it sells the QCTLC track pass and books DOC campsites, water taxis and rooms. Open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday 9 am to 4 pm, closed Saturdays.

Checked online in October 2026. Places marked "not confirmed by the operator" are listed by the track cooperative or on OpenStreetMap but have no up-to-date official page. DOC campsites on the Queen Charlotte Track have toilets and water but no cooking facilities or rubbish bins: bring a stove, boil or treat all water and carry out your rubbish. Some lodges are a steep walk off the track or are reached only by boat, so get clear directions when you book.
