Stage 4 of the Alta Via 4 covers 10.1 km from Rifugio Vandelli to Rifugio San Marco, with 1,461 m of ascent and 1,562 m of descent. The highest point is 2,358 m. Allow about 6.5 hours of walking, plus breaks.

CAI Venezia hut at 1,823 m, opened in 1895 and run by the Ossi family since 1990, above San Vito di Cadore. Open in summer; closed until June 2027, so book by email (info@rifugiosanmarco.com).
Small hut at 1,580 m, about 600 m below Rifugio San Marco, with private rooms (bedding included), each with a balcony, and three bathrooms with showers. Open June to October; reached from San Vito di Cadore on foot or by chairlift (check summer times).
Bivacco Emilio Comici
Unstaffed bivouac hut at 2,000 m on the Sorapiss circuit, the official end of stage 4 on dolomiti.it, on the route at km 43.4. There is no food, water or bedding: bring a sleeping bag, food and water if you plan to sleep here.
Checked online in October 2026. Places marked "not confirmed for 2026" are on the official route description or their own website, but their 2026 season could not be confirmed. Most rifugi open from about 20 June to the second half of September. Book ahead for July and August; several huts take bookings only online, by email or by WhatsApp message.
