Official notices
Licensed guide and agency TIMS card required (Everest listed)
Under Nepal's revised TIMS rule (in force since 31 March 2023), trekkers in listed protected areas, including the Everest region, must be accompanied by a licensed guide and carry an agency-issued TIMS card (NPR 2,000; NPR 1,000 for SAARC). The local Khumbu municipality has in the past allowed solo trekking, so confirm current enforcement with a registered agency.
